BIO OF BIKE COMPANY: In 1900, WI's Historical Society named Joe Merkel for opening WI's very first motor vehicle company in West Allis. This was 3 years before the other MC company from Milwaukee built their first engine, and set up their shop less then 5 miles miles away from Joe's company... Also, in 1903, the other MC company only made 4-5 engines that year, and did not attach a engine to a Actual frame until late 1904-early 1905. Not a myth...
Asking $3500. Cash and Carry. Message me with any questions or if you would like to see it...
UPDATED - BACKGROUND INFO:
- This Foot Pedal, Low Power Era Historic Re Creation Motorbike (aka Motorbicycle) was Specifically Built to 100% Comply and Straddle the WI Bicycle Law; Not the Department Of Transportation (DOT) Motorcycle Law. Their is a Huge Difference Between the Two; Like Comparing Apples and Oranges...
- This Period Era Racing Vehicles were the Very First Motorbikes Ever Invented/Made. Anyone that "Thinks" and "Compares" these to today's High Power Motorcycles are Not Honestly Appreciating their Historic Value they Represent from the Motorcycle's Birth; nor Caring of the Historic Period of Time we Once Had in the World. Motorbikes/Motorcycles were not Invented to Immediately have had a 1200cc+ Powerful Engine as they do today... If this Motorbike was so "Common", don't you Hardcore MC fans think you would see these High Quality Motorbikes all the time; Especially when you go out on Rides? When was the Last Time you seen one of these Outside a Museum? This is a True Gem to Own; Ride, Put in your Business to Show, or Give as a Gift... It is a Fun Ride Around Town that Always Turns Everyone's Head... Instant Conversation Piece...
- Motorcycles, Mopeds and Scooters all fall into the Motorcycle Laws, which means you need to be DOT Registered, License Plated, & Tagged; Rider must have a Valid MC Drivers License; Insurance; and the Vehicle needs to Comply with all DOT Motor Vehicle Laws Before you can Legally Ride it. This Does Not Needs all of that...
Just like any new invention, all to often people lose their Reality Touch by removing themselves from that time period when a technology was created. Anyone remember the days before the cell phone? How about the Motor Car, color TV, computers, internet, etc... They all did not start off like we have them today, but over time, they got better and better. So just because it is not powerful, does not mean this is "Cheap" or "Bogus." This Recreation Vintage Antique Motor Bike is for those True Die-Hard MC Collectors who appreciate the Craftsmanship and Look it Represents.
